Associate Professor Grace Ong will be appointed Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry with effect from 1 January 2010. She is a specialist in Periodontics and the current Head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry. Her former appointments include Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Associate Director of the Centre for Development of Teaching and Learning. Associate Professor Ong is the first female Dean in the Faculty of Dentistry's 80 years of history.
Associate Professor Ong said, "I look forward to consolidating and building up research capabilities of the Faculty of Dentistry. We will continue to place a strong emphasis on nurturing oral health physicians who are ethical and socially responsible. As part of the National University Health System, the NUS Faculty of Dentistry will enhance our clinical services to serve the oral health needs of Singapore."
