The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the University Children's Medical Institute, National University Hospital in Singapore seeks a full-time paediatric intensivist. The PICU is an eleven-bed multidisciplinary unit which sees about 500 admissions a year. The unit services a tertiary paediatric unit in a university hospital and sees a wide spectrum of cases. It provides multi-disciplinary paediatric critical care involving paediatric medical, paediatric surgical, neurosurgical, orthopedic, otolaryngologic, as well as post-operative cardiothoracic patients. It also supports the National Paediatric Programme for liver, renal and bone marrow transplantations. Some of the facilities include high frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), nitric oxide ventilation, invasive cardiac monitoring, continuous electroencephalograph (EEG) monitoring, acute hemodialysis as well as non-invasive positive airway ventilation.
Interested candidates must posses a basic Medical Degree that can be registered with Singapore Medical Council; and recognised post-graduate qualifications such as MMed, MRCP or its equivalent. In addition, the candidates should be fellowship-trained in paediatric critical care. This position offers competitive income based on training and expertise. The candidate will be expected to supervise junior on-call staff. The candidate will also be responsible for setting up a home ventilation program and transport service and participate in our sedation service.
