Respiratory Therapist

 

The Challenges

 

You will be responsible for providing respiratory care to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio-respiratory system as prescribed by physician in conjunction with policy and procedure. The individual will be part of multi-disciplinary medical and surgical teams, assessing the patient’s respiratory status, recommending, implementing and evaluating appropriate therapies. You will also assist in continuing medical education of staff and with ongoing research projects. 

 

The Requirements

 

  • Graduation from a recognised school of Respiratory Therapy, preferably with registration from either Canadian Board of Respiratory Care or National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) will have a definite advantage. Those without must have minimum certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • At least 2 years of adult critical care experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare workers and demonstrate a willingness to take on challenges, be innovative and well motivated to apply and share knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a team that is committed to providing quality, cost-effective and specialised care to our patients

 

Applicants without ACLS will have 8 months to obtain certification upon job commencement. There will also be opportunities for continuing professional development and also valued opportunities to further develop your skills and competencies.
