Orthoptist


The Challenges


The Orthoptist should have training and experience in performing orthoptic assessment of patients with ocular motility disorders. You should be able to confidently perform the prism cover test for the measurement of strabismus, assessment of binocular visual function (including tests of stereoprsis, field of binocular single vision, Hess chart, synoptophore). You should also be familiar with assessment of vision in a non-verbal child. The type of pathology seen at the National University Hospital ranges from simple committant squints to complex neurological ocular motility disorders.



The Requirements


  • A Diploma or Degree in Orthoptics
  • Able to perform objective and subjective refractions
  • Ability to perform orthoptic examination
