The Challenges
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Medical Technologists to join our friendly and professional team at the National University Hospital. We have positions in the Clinical Chemistry, Haematology and Microbiology divisions. Comprehensive training is given to all staff members. Staff in the Department are strongly supported in continuing education. All posts require participation in a shift rotation scheme.
The Department provides an extensive range of investigations to support our specialized patient population in the National University Hospital as well as external clients in Singapore and the region (through NUH Referral Laboratories). The department is fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Banks and ISO 15189 for Medical Testing Laboratories. The laboratories are well-equipped and fully computerized with a strong IT infrastructure. Applicants are sought for the following positions:
(A) Medical Technologist/ Junior Medical Technologist (Clinical Chemistry) The Clinical Chemistry laboratory is a highly automated laboratory providing a full range of analyses. We have a total laboratory automation system as well as multiple immunoassay analysers, automated Elisa plate analysers, electrophoresis systems, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as well as many specialised techniques. Clinical investigations in this division include basic chemistries, endocrinology, serology, virology, immunology, urinalysis and protein studies.
(B) Medical Technologist/Junior Medical Technologist (Haematology) This laboratory offers a wide range of tests used in the diagnosis of haematological and haemostasis disorders. The facility is well-equipped with the latest automated generation cell-counters, coagulation analysers, HPLC flow cytometer and an image analysis system for the cytogenetic analysis of haematological malignancies.
(C) Medical Technologist/ Junior Medical Technologist (Microbiology) The Division of Microbiology undertakes a full range of investigations in Clinical Bacteriology along with Virology, Parasitology and Mycology. The laboratories are well-equipped with an automated bacterial identification and sensitivity testing system.
The Requirements
- You should possess either a Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Science, or a related discipline.
- Good laboratory skills, a keen interest in the discipline and willingness to work shifts are essential.
