Support Students and Faculty

A Chance at Education

In meritocratic Singapore, many students are accepted by the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and NUS Faculty of Dentistry to be trained as doctors, dentists or nurses without regard for their family background, or their ability to pay for their undergraduate degree programmes.

A number of students come from lower-income families and face difficulties in paying for the cost of their education, even though it is heavily subsidised. On top of their tuition fees, daily living expenses such as food, textbooks and medical equipment add to their heavy financial burden. To alleviate the strain for these students and their families, the NUHS offers bursaries to students facing financial difficulty.

Gift in the area of education are an investment in the next generation of healthcare professionals, with the gifts continuing to bear fruit long after the initial donation has been expended.

The training of a healthcare professional does not stop with the student graduating with a first degree. Your contribution can help fund medical, dental and nursing education and training at several levels. These range from tuition subsidies and bursaries and scholarships to the sponsorship of healthcare staff to attend conferences and training in their respective sub-specialty areas.

Bringing Top Talents to the NUHS

Gifts can also support the establishment of faculty positions such as named Professorships. A coveted named Professorship is one of the highest honours an academic can strive for. It will serve to attract, develop and retain world class faculty who can lead the clinical, research and education missions of NUHS.

It is vital for the NUHS to strengthen its talent base. As seen in leading academic medical centres around the world, the close links and interaction between quality clinical care, impactful research and world class medical education creates a virtuous cycle of excellence that benefits the community that it serves.
