Giving Patients Hope
Funds can be used to help financially disadvantaged patients who do not have their own Central Provident Fund savings - such as Medisave, Medifund or Medishield - or who do not qualify for any of the public assistance schemes.
The various programmes at the NUHS provide support to reduce the burden on patients with financial hardship. One of these programmes helps offset the cost of complex surgeries. Another provides step-down care to allow the elderly and chronically ill to continue receiving the care they need after they have been discharged from hospital. There are also programmes to help needy children with various medical afflictions. Gifts to these programmes can help subsidise surgery costs, pay for transplants and offset the cost of expensive drugs.
