Mrs Sylvia Lee

Sylvia graduated from Imperial College London in Chemical Engineering (first class honours), started her career as a chemical engineer and attained Chartered Engineer status in 1990. Her work experiences included refinery operations, engineering design, product quality, economics and optimization, planning, strategy, investments, talent management, strategic and operational HR. She was cross posted twice to the UK and The Netherlands.
Sylvia held regional and global roles from 2000 to 2008. She was involved in the transformation of Shell's traditional country units to regional and then global operations, coaching and equipping staff to ‘think global, act local' while aiming to achieve ‘the whole is to be greater than the sum of its parts" for the enterprise. Sylvia was headhunted to join CapitaLand as Head of HR after 22 years in Shell. Moving from Shell to CapitaLand, Sylvia's unique contribution was the blending of western best practices and Asian management styles with balance and effectiveness. Sylvia left the corporate world in 2008 to pursue personal interests.
Sylvia is the Director of Corporate Development of ACTSYS Process Management Consultants Pte Ltd., Director of Lotus Culture Ltd., a non-profit organization, and a board member of Jurong Health Services. She also serves as the HR Advisor of Asian Women's Welfare Association (AWWA) and is a member of the Selection Panel for President's Award for Nurses.
Sylvia's expertise lies in strategic HR management. She sees the HR function as the "soul" of the organization. She is passionate about the development of future talents and building human capital of Singapore.
She is married with two children.
